PhenoTips Announces Appointment of Dr. Pawel Buczkowicz As New CEO
Toronto, Canada: PhenoTips announces the appointment of Dr. Pawel Buczkowicz as Chief Executive Officer. This decision follows Dr. Orion Buske stepping down from the position of CEO, a role he has held since 2018, and returning in a senior leadership role in the coming months. The Canada-based software company and producer of the world’s first Genomic Health Record will see Dr. Buczkowicz take over the role of CEO and further the company’s trajectory towards widespread adoption, enabling global digital data unification and standardization in genomic medicine.
Dr. Buczkowicz brings over 16 years of relevant experience to the position, having previously held the title of Chief Operating Officer and Vice President of Scientific and Medical Affairs at PhenoTips. As the first employee and core founding member of the company, Pawel played an instrumental role in the company’s growth and successes to-date, which include commercial expansion and implementation of PhenoTips’ software across leading hospitals, health systems, and academic institutions worldwide, graduation from the 2020 Health cohort of the Creative Destruction Lab, and raising Seed-capital to accelerate the growth of the business.

Previous to his experience at PhenoTips, Dr. Buczkowicz was a genetics researcher at The Hospital for Sick Children, where his passion and determination to improve the lives of patients with genetic disorders began. With a strong sense of empathy towards the clinicians and healthcare professionals that depend on PhenoTips and a deep understanding of the software, operations, and business, Pawel will continue to propel PhenoTips' mission, empowering doctors to provide personalized care to patients and supporting researchers to discover breakthroughs in genetics through technologies that make clinical data standardized, usable, shareable, and interoperable.
