PhenoTips’ complete Genomic Health Record software captures the information needed for genomic medicine in structured and machine-readable formats across patients and families. As an Electronic Health Record (EHR) for genomics that integrates with your EHR, it’s the single tool unifying and streamlining genomics for the digital age.
We’re constantly looking for ways to make clinical workflows even more streamlined, digital, and efficient. Our new feature, Worklists, are a place to record tasks associated with patients, completely customizable to your workflows.
We’ve collected feedback that our users want a place in PhenoTips to make notes on next steps for a patient, creating a ‘to-do list’ both for an individual patient as well as across an institution’s entire patient database. With Worklists, not only can you create a ‘Task’ for a patient, you can select one or more assignees, pick a due date, write a brief (or lengthy) description, and set a status.
To ensure your team is aligned, we’ve created a brand new entry in our ‘Browse’ menu: ‘Browse Worklists’. This gives users a view of all tasks across all patients, with built-in filtering to quickly narrow down to exactly what you need to see. Filters can be combined, allowing you to search by assignee, due date (exact match or before or after a certain date), and status. You can even quickly update the details of a task from the Browse Worklists table, so you can make updates without leaving your worklists overview.
Creating a new task is simple: open a patient record and navigate to the new ‘Worklists’ section. From here, click ‘Add New’, and you’ll be met with a pop-up that lets you add details to the task. When you’re done, you’ll see your newly created task added to a table on the patient record, so that you can see all historic and upcoming tasks associated with that patient. You can even sort by due date or status from this view as needed, or delete or modify existing tasks with a couple of clicks.
Step 1: Open a patient record in edit mode and go to the ‘Worklists’ section. Click ‘Add New’ to get started on adding a new task.
Step 2: Fill out the details in the popup. An easy to use calendar picker lets you select the due date, and our searchable ‘Assignees’ field searches all existing PhenoTips users to let you choose who the task should be assigned to, with support for multiple assignees. When you’re finished, just hit ‘Done’.
Step 3: Once you’ve clicked ‘Done’, you’ll see your new task in the table view. From here, a single click on any of the columns will sort by that value – for example, clicking on the ‘Due Date’ column will show you the task with the closest due date, so that you can easily see your top priorities.
Step 4: When you’re ready to see all tasks across all patients, navigate to the ‘Browse’ menu and select ‘Browse Worklists’.
Step 5: You’ll soon see a list of all tasks that have been recorded within your PhenoTips Genomic Health Record. From here, selecting the ‘Filter’ button will allow you to customize your view so that you can find what you’re looking for.
The filter supports AND and OR logic, so you can build a custom view. For example, if you wanted to see any tasks where the assignee was one of three people, you could do something like the following:
Or, perhaps you want to see all tasks assigned to just yourself and are due in the next two weeks. If your name was Maria Medicine, you’d be able to apply the following filter:
Clicking away from the filter box will show you your results. From here, you can easily edit a task (for example, update a due date or status), or delete a task if it’s no longer needed using either the ‘Edit’ or ‘Delete’ icons at the end of a row.
With a sortable view of all tasks associated with patients and across your entire database, the Genomic Health Record isn’t just organizing and digitizing clinical information needed for genomics, it’s organizing and digitizing your entire clinical team.
Your team can now align on what is most urgent without leaving the Genomic Health Record to ensure the best possible care for your patients, and the smoothest possible experience for your staff.
