In 2025, PhenoTips welcomed Cameron Ferroni, Microsoft Xbox Co-founder, as CTO. Mr. Ferroni provided essential guidance to PhenoTips team leads and equipped the company with a framework for agility during a period of rapid scaling.
Additionally, Parker Lachance joined PhenoTips as Vice President of Revenue. Mr. Lachance has an extensive history of scaling start-ups through sales, marketing, and customer success strategy, most recently as Vice President of Revenue Operations at Smile Digital Health.
Furthermore, the PhenoTips team expanded by five new team members in addition to Cameron Ferroni and Parker Lachance. PhenoTips welcomed Customer Support Specialist Tim Lee, Senior Front-End Developer Caleb Tony-Enwin, Technical Solutions Engineer Carlos Moreira, and two new Account Executives, Connor McLeod and Terrell Parker.
This year the PhenoTips team grew by 6 new team members, including Parker Lachance, Tim Lee, Caleb Tony-Enwin, Carlos Moreira, Connor McLeod, and Terrell Parker.
In June 2025, PhenoTips was one of 13 Ontario-based life sciences companies to receive the renewed Life Sciences Innovation Fund from the government of Ontario, through the Ontario Centre of Innovation (OCI). OCI backed PhenoTips’ Genomic Health Record with an investment of CDN$500,000.
Later, PhenoTips closed a CDN$2 million all-equity seed round extension led by GreenSky Ventures Accelerator Fund VI. Since its seed raise in 2021, PhenoTips has tripled its annual recurring revenue and expanded to 30 international institutional customers.
At PhenoTips, it’s our mission to support genetic professionals with tools that enhance and digitize their practice. Therefore, as genomic medicine evolves, so will the Genomic Health Record. Constant evolution means that when genetics departments go digital with PhenoTips they gain access to new tools and abilities without losing the flexibility of pen and paper.
This year we released a new update to PhenoTips’ Pedigree Chart software that supports single-parent families alongside traditional family structures. This update streamlines pedigrees and supports diverse family structures encountered regularly in clinical practice.
Additionally, PhenoTips introduced Worklists, which help genetics staff track tasks associated with each patient and across a patient database. This feature enables team members to assign tasks, track statuses, and align on due dates without leaving the Genomic Health Record.
Because of genomic medicine’s fast pace, it can be difficult to find time to try out PhenoTips for yourself. That’s why the PhenoTips Speaker Series hosted a live demonstration of the Genomic Health Record’s Pedigree Chart Tool. Hosted by Kira Dineen, watch as PhenoTips’ in-house genetic counselor, Erica Peacock, builds a pedigree chart for a mock patient in real time.
At PhenoTips, we believe your genetic software should reflect the diversity of patients and families encountered in the clinic. This June, we celebrated Pride with our fourth annual Pride Month Speaker Series webinar, “Gender Affirming Cancer Genetic Counseling”.
Alongside our annual Pride webinar, we released a timeline of inclusivity updates in PhenoTips’ Genomic Health Record software. Discover how the software has evolved since 2014, from same-sex couples in pedigrees to the latest standards in trans and intersex representation.
For the second consecutive year, PhenoTips received multiple awards recognizing the company’s commitment to employee growth and satisfaction.
PhenoTips was recognized by Canadian HR Reporter’s 2025 Employers of Choice award and by Human Resources Director’s 2025 Best Places to Work award.
As the team continues to grow, PhenoTips will continue to foster a compassionate work environment where employees are empowered to shape the company’s culture and future.
Driving diagnosis for families facing rare and undiagnosed diseases is central to PhenoTips mission. Therefore, PhenoTips was proud to co-host the first Undiagnosed Hackathon in 2023 and sponsor the second Undiagnosed Hackathon in 2024.
In anticipation of the 2025 Undiagnosed Hackathon, PhenoTips invited past and current organizers to discuss the event’s profound impact driving rare disease diagnosis through global collaboration and innovation.
PhenoTips was proud to sponsor the 3rd annual Undiagnosed Hackathon hosted by Mayo Clinic, Rochester. 122 international mutlidisciplinary experts, including PhenoTips’ CEO Dr. Orion Buske, gathered to find answers for the 29 participating families seeking diagnoses. Of those, six were diagnosed within 48 hours, and nine are close to reaching a breakthrough. Work will continue remotely as the teams seek answers for the remaining participants.
PhenoTips also supported the 2025 Undiagnosed Hackathon by providing access to the Genomic Health Record software. With the Genomic Health Record, team members powered their analysis with standardized participant data in machine-optimized Human Phenotype Ontology formats.
With the new year comes new opportunities to foster collaboration and innovation in the global genomics community. In 2026, PhenoTips will continue to support genomic mainstreaming, precision medicine, and the breakthroughs made possible by modern, digital solutions.
Next year, the Genomic Health Record will evolve to better capture genetic test results in a structured and streamlined way. The new “Genetic Information” section will unify current “Genotype Information” and “Copy Number Variant” sections into a single section that supports a wider range of variant types. This section is designed to grow alongside genomics, while helping clinicians add findings and identify relevant results at a glance.
In addition, a lightweight version of the Genomic Health Record will be released to support small clinics looking to digitize and streamline their practice.
We look forward to connecting with you in the new year and discussing how PhenoTips can support your goals. Until then, our team wishes you a warm and restful holiday season and a happy new year.
Happy holidays from the PhenoTips Team.
